Day 9

Today we went to a poor community in Ecuador to perform a drama and to do a work project. Where were basically the slums of Ecuador. Homes were made of metal sheets and there were dust and dirt flying everywhere. it was hard to breathe and dust would get in my eyes. Even though there was a "do not litter" sign, there was trash Iittered almost everywhere. I can't even imagine living there. How did I get so blessed??? As soon as I got off the bus, two girls came up to me wearing big smiles on their faces and wrapped their little fingers around mine. They wouldn't let go of my hand nor woul they stop hugging me. It was adorable and reminded me that that is how we should act towards Christ. The kids there were so enthusiastic when they were watching our drama and playing with us. I prayed with a kid to accept Christ and he wanted to try and pray in English haha.

The work project was split up. The majority of the guys did most of the laborious work while most of the girls painted the church. There were some small paint fights and I had paint splattered on my hair, clothes, and skin. It was great. To top it off, it was raining on and off. To thank us at the end of the day, some of the older girls in the community performed a couple traditional dances for us and they all prayed for us at the end. Before we left, we prayed or the pastor and leaders of the church. It was a great day being able to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It's not me loving them but Christ loving them.

with lots of love,
Michelle
